Birthday Book - A Genius Idea

Son turned 4 recently.  This is an exciting time in all of our lives.

He's super proud of his crafty mom and has been very supportive of my latest endeavours, so for his birthday I wanted to make him something. And so, because I'm a crafty lady, and because I was inspired by a fellow crafter on pinterest, I made my boy a special book.  It's a birthday book.  There is a page dedicated to every year of his life between the age of 4 and 18.  And every year he will answer the same 22 questions.  Each year we can reflect on what has changed and what hasn't. And when he is all grown up, he can share it with his kids...and hopefully I will make the same book for them.

What is your favourite colour?
What is your favourite toy?
What is your favourite stuffed animal?
What is your favourite thing to sleep with?
What is your favourite fruit?
What is your favourite vegetable?
What is your favourite cereal?
What is your favourite thing to eat for breakfast?
What is your favourite thing to eat for lunch?
What is your favourite desert?
What is your favourite drink?
What do you want to eat for your birthday dinner?
What is your favourite animal?
What is your favourite book?
What is your favourite song?
What is your favourite game?
What is your favourite TV show?
What is your favourite movie?
What is your favourite thing to do outside?
Who is your best friend?
What is your favourite memory from the past year?
What do you want to be when you grow up?

I still have a bit of work to do on the book to personalize it (the cover mostly) and have to fill in the answers he gave me when I went through the questions before his birthday.  But here it is.

I got the idea from this pin which has a free downloadable printable.  I did a cut and paste instead and reworked the questions a bit.

I think that this idea is absolute genius and super appreciate the person who wrote about it and the person pinned it.

I love this idea! It reminds me of another idea I read about. Get a copy of the Doctor Seuss book 'Oh, the Places You'll Go' and at the end of every school year ask your child's teacher to write them a little note on one page. Give them the book as a surprise present for their high school graduation! -Tricia
